Bass Fishing Sweeping Method

Join me on a little outing where I catch bass in a most unconventional way. I call it ‘Sweeping’ and in this episode of ‘Another Walk with Mike’ you’ll discover how exciting this method can be. I came up with the technique after having bass hit my buzz bait just as I was pulling it out of the water. Finally, after one such strike I pushed my pole back in the water and Bam! A method was born. Similiar to doodlesocking or jigger pole fishing, sweeping is best done from a kayak. Watch my video and see for yourself. It is as exciting as it can be. Great Tips on fishing cover for Bass

In this Video I try to show you the kind of spots I look for to find lot of bass almost all the time. I have some spots that are on points with rocks, logs, docks, pilings, and hundreds acres of lily pad with in 20 yards. Bass hang out in pad fields and come out and position on near by cover and structure. Early morning is a great time to fish cover and structure near other cover like pads. Cover on cover with structure is a very big key in catching big bass and good numbers of bass at that! Try start looking at points and you may find a few points that have other things on it like brush, logs dock….

Shasta Lake Trout Fishing Derby biting like wild dogs..

Fished the Lake Shasta Lake Trout Derby this weekend with rep Ray Link. We left on thursday morning and drove up in very windy condition which remain with us through Saturday making it fun to fish with boat control being a full time job. We had our share of tangles during the pre-fish as we were pulling different lures. On the tournament days we pulled identical setups so very few tangles even tho wind remained a boat control job but the fish were biting like wild dogs. I only brought back two fish so catch and release was the norm except for tournament fish. There were 150 fishermen in the tournament and we were just outside the money on our weights. Used baby Minnow Bullet Rotator™ on pre-fish and Shasta tackle stuff on tournament days. Saw Tran and his fishing buddy. Saw Harold Jones of Sugarloaf Cottage Resort a long time friend and stayed with Gary Mirales of Shasta Tackle. Event held at Bass Hole Bar and Grill in Lakehead, California. The Lake is very low with only a couple of launches open and low water bring all the boats in favorite hot bite areas and making watching where you were going just like a hot salmon bite on the ocean.
