What is your favorite fishing lake or river?

Posted by : admin

Wen answering tell what state and city it is in or near or what country. For example the Red River borders Texas and other states and goes all the way to the ocean. So you would add what state you fish from and what city it is near.

I’m surprised you didn’t get more answers this is a good question.

Everyone always asks the same junk. How to catch carp, good bass lure, how to surf fish.

Anyway, I am in Peoria, Arizona which is basically NW Phoenix. Phoenix is in Maricopa county and my favorite place to fish is Lake Pleasant its partly in Maricopa county and Yavapai county because its fairly large (about 10,000 acres) although it is our city resevoir not really a lake. It changes levels year round and gets lower in late summer but always has areas in excess of 150-200 feet deep. This rise and fall is predictable as we have the CAP canal filling it from the Colorado river which starts somewhere in the rockies?

Anyway. I like river fishing but we only have smaller rivers here other the the Colorado. For me thats rare occasion. It runs our states north border starting in Colorado, moving along Utah and finally Nevada and south along Califronia to Mexico.

We get Striped bass that came in from the cap canal and they thrive in Lake Pleasant, also large mouth bass, small mouth, white bass, crappie, wiper (white bass and striper hybrid), flathead cat, channel cat, carp, bluegill, shad, mudsuckers, and others. Well that’s my favorite for fishing becasue its productive, has large fish and is only about 10 miles from me.

Also, Lake Pleasant is our number one recreation lake since its so close to Phoenix, there are now two marinas with restaurants, bars and boat slips. Its packed during the summer weekends and we have what they call hooters cove! Its actually humbug cove but it’s better than Lake Havasu spriing break. Women on stripper poles on boats with pasties and thongs or topless. Anyway, thats probably too much info, haha.

We do have the salt river in the east valley, and some other large lakes on that side, but I like being close to home so I can come and go as much as I want.

My favorite fishing is in the river simply because of the diversity. There is no telling what I might catch. I generally fish on the Ragland side of the Neely Henry Dam in Alabama. The dam is the border between Calhoun County, and St Clair County. Normally, when I fish there, I catch primarily catfish, and bream, but sometimes I catch freshwater drum, bass, stripe, sucker fish, and occasionally a carp or gar. There is so many different fish in the river your basically guaranteed a good time, and a plus to this is, that normally, the river produces bigger fish than the lakes and ponds.

Tionesta, NW PA, The Allegheny River, USA…….i catch walleyes, muskies, smallmouth and catfish. It is a big body of water coming from the Kinzua Dam in Warren, Pa that comes from the Kinzua Reservoir and is in New York State also and then flows all the way to Pittsburgh, Pa. It is a great fishery and here where i live it is designated a Wildlife and Scenic Wilderness Area with the Allegheny National Forest that is half a million acres on it’s eastern side. It’s a beautiful place to live !!

I fish the lake winnebago chain in wisconsin, this includes lake butte des mortes, lake poygan and lake winneconnie. They are connected with the wolf and fox rivers. Nearby cities include neenah, menasha, fremont, fondulac, and oshkosh. Any freshwater fish in this region of the country can be caught in these waters.
