salmon and steelhead fishing guide on the rogue river

You have to get your name out there. And once you get moving treat ‘em right cause a bad reputation can doom you. Have a web site made, a good one. Post fliers. Your goal is to make the customer happy so either he’ll be back or his buddies will.

Yes get your name out… go to the area tackle shops and ask if you can post flyers. talk to them and tell them what youre doing, your experience, your goals for customers. Invite them to go out with you for free. Do everything for them you would for a paying customer and they could end up being your best source of referals. Figure out your target market and advertise to them. My market is mostly NY so I have advertised in The NY Post and the NY Times, but I’m mainly word of mouth now. You will also need to have lots of gear. You are the one guiding them to the fish, and helping them catch. So consider all the rods, reels, etc.. to be your tools. Some people will bring gear but for the most part the second question people ask me is "What do I need to bring?". Also, when the trip is over, ask your clients for feedback. If you want to ask more your welcome to. I’ve been a guide for 17 years.
