The Wigwam Resort pulls in a few nice Walleye, Sauger and Perch on otherwise a slower day on Lake of the Woods. The Wigwam Fisherman discusses some of the hot lures of the day while fishing just off the reefs. There were a few big marks that came through the Vexilar, but no bites. The ones that did bite had some bugs in them that are currently hatching from the mud bottom below.
I live in the Destin Florida area and have been fishing alot recently with my friends. We dont have a boat or access to one so Im fishing alot off of docks, bridges, and sometime wading out in the water. What are some tackle essentials, and tips to be succesful? Im new to saltwater fishing to any and all help is greatly appreciated!
I don’t have a boat either in fresh or saltwater i just fish the beaches, docks, bridges, jetties, etc. For inshore fishing i like soft plastics like Ron-Z’s they work well. A few other good suggestions would be topwaters, rattle baits, crank baits, and stick baits should work just fine. The only thing i would avoid for inshore fishing is like deep divers, and trolling stuff because if you don’t have a boat how are you going to troll and many of the inshore waters aren’t like 100 ft so you won’t need anything too deep. I’m trying to search out the best bass(preferably Largemouth) fishing lakes in Manitowoc County and the counties surrounding it. I hear a lot of lakes here have winterkill, and I’ve been to a few that don’t have much action. Any help would be appreciated.

My friend told me that I don’t need a fishing license to fish in some lakes/rivers because they can make you pay a fee to fish for a day? Do any of you know a place in northern Virginia that you can do this or at least a place where they don’t check if you have one. Btw do I still need to buy a fishing license if I’m only planning to catch and release?
fishing licenses are required for department managed waters. any private impoundments that dont recieve state assistance do not require fishing licenses.
i just went fishing with my son and mother-n-law today and caught my first fish ever…..not sure where it was but i caught a bass…it was a 16 i think….but my son said he wanted just us 2 go go sometime….where are there good spots to fish in or around dubuque,ia?
Take out your phone book and look up bait & tackle dealers in the yellow pages. Then drop by the ones nearest your area and ask them the same question you just asked us. It is their job and their business to know and to be able to give folks like you good advice when you ask for it. In all probability, they will also have local maps that may even be used for pinpointing specific spots. And MOST importantly, they will also have the current fishing regulations that will tell you what you can catch and what (how many) you can keep. Iowa’s Department of Natural Resources also has pretty good fish identification pictures in their regs so you won’t have to wonder what the heck it was that you caught. Iowa has some very good fishing and is kind of a sleeper as far as attracting out-of-state fishermen, but there are always fish to be found and caught somewhere in the state and you should have no trouble at all finding something close by.
