is it legal for children to collect money in a fishing tournament?
fishing tournaments
In North Carolina, EDIT:yes. My 14 year old son won $3,000 for the biggest tuna of the day caught by a youth angler. In other states, I’m sure it’s legal, unless there is an age limit to the tournament.

It may be legal but could cause problems when it comes time to apply for college scholarships.

Yes.
First look at tournament rules to make sure you do not have to be a legal adult (18) to qualify for a prize. Some have restrictions and disclaimers.
Most tourneys for children are clearly established as such and prizes offered accordingly.
Winnings may have to be declared however, as even child income is susceptible to tax and regulation (as a parent’s responsibility) particularly from a public venue where advertising, event promotion and newsworthiness makes it known.

Yes because they pay a fee and when the fee is paid then they are allowed to collect prize money.
