shimano bait runner …
shimano bait runner on a 12″ bass pro shops surf rod with 80 lb spider wire ultra cast, and i use squid with two treble hooks on a slider rig. i like to pull in the sharks… Some times if seven gill are hitting i will use 108lb malin wire rigging but mostly i use 40lb flora carbon or 50 mono… but always use a full slider. and if you know how deep you are zip tie a small round piece of wine cork x distance from your bait to keep it off the floor if its dead and your worried about krabs…

Don’t listen to …
Don’t listen to sjsupimp. The great thing about fishing the surf is that almost any tackle you own will work for at least one style of fishing. The setup you have is a little heavy for the surf however you might be able to throw some of the heavier jerkbaits for halibut with it.
