Where are the best fishing spots in Texas around the DFW area?

Posted by : admin

Just like the question says, I want to know where are the best fishing spots in around the DFW area because this summer I’m going to try fishing a lot more. I’m willing to drive for 2 hours to get to the spot and I live in Fort Worth, hopefully that will help you guys. I would also like to what types of fish you can catch at that spot and what type of bait would be good to catch them. Thank you for all your help.

Both Lake Lewisville and Ray Roberts have excellent fishing from both boat and shore. Lake Grapevine is just ok in my experience.

Live or cut shad will do well in both Lewisville and Ray Roberts. There is some very good catfish and striper action below the lewisville damn and I have even caught some black bass there as well. Both lakes have large populations of sand bass with lots of ways to catch them.

You can catch almost any of the best sport fish in the following lakes and they are not so far away .

    Lewisville
    Ray Hubbard
    Hubbard Creek
    Waxahatchie
    Ray Roberts
Litle longer trip , but definitely worth the trip Lake Fork
    Bob Sandlin
    Monticello
    Cypress Springs
These are just some suggestions and they are all really good lakes, at fork you might get many small fish and you might get a share a lunker ( 13# or over )
