What are some good wade fishing spots in Christmas Bay? What type of bait/rig should I use?

Posted by : admin

I plan on doing some wade fishing in mid-November in Christmas Bay and some surrounding areas. I want to fish for reds, specks and flounder. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Use the beach road between Surfside and Galveston and access Christmas Bay at the Key Largo resort area. Park around the condemned condo area. Wade out from there Northwest about 600yds. Throw some speck jigs around until you get near that area. The water will be between 3-4ft deep wading out there. There is a small drop off with a oyster reef straight out Northwest in that area running 8-10ft deep in some spots. Fish the bottom with a leader using live or fresh dead shrimp. Small fingerling mullet would be great as well. I gigged allot of flounders out of that bay years ago and spent countless hours wade fishing it. That’s my favorite bay when I visit back home. Feel free to email me for more info. 40yr exp
