Any good fishing spots around Logan in Utah?

Posted by : admin

I have recently moved into northern Utah (Logan), and I’m not very familiar with the fishing around here. Does anyone know of some good places to get bigger fish during the summer? I’m limited to shore fishing, and any tips on lures or bait to use would be appreciated.

Tony Grove is nice….actually, Tony Grove is the name of the closest campground, but from there, there are trails leading to all kinds of lakes and ponds. I think the main lake is called White Pine Lake or something like that – and as far as I know, that’s the only one that DWR stocks (with trout). Usually nothing too big there, but it’s pretty reliable for catching at least *something*. They mostly hit on Powerbait or the occasional nightcrawler.

Per the Forest Service, this is how you get there: In Garden City, UT, at intersection of State Rt. 30 and US Rt. 89, take Rt. 89 south 18.4 miles to Tony Grove Recreation Area sign. Turn right at sign and then take an immediate left and go 6.8 miles to campground on the right.

Then the lake is maybe a mile’s walk from the campground, is all.

Other than that, anywhere you want to pull off the road next to the upper Logan River and drop a line is probably is as good as the next place…DWR stocks several locations along the river with rainbow trout of various sizes. Here’s DWR’s website for their fishing reports: http://wildlife.utah.gov/hotspots/reports_nr.php

Hope this helps. Good luck.
