they closed area 19 … they closed area 19 on us last year we hada go to cheticamp and loved it… when they unloaded rthe boat they cleaned it to.lol

ha, I’m just south … ha, I’m just south of you here in cheticamp, we get the same catches for crab too, just not the trip, I don’t understand why you guys don’t just unload in cheticamp for crab and safe the fuel, then go back home when the season’s done?
yeah, but you … yeah, but you nearly kill yourselves everyday, we fish safely and make less money, but very low chance of getting killed, only one death in my area in the last 10-15 years.
yeah, but we also … yeah, but we also fish snow crab, that rounds out my salary to 10-11k, only big unemployment stamps, so that’s another 10-13k for unemployment, so I do pretty good.
I work on a small, … I work on a small, inshore operation and only made around $6000 in two months, if I fished mackerel for the summer, maybe another $2000.
backwards, the … backwards, the lobster and other fisheries are going in the hole right now, it’s because of the recession, it ruined the demand, thus ruining the price, many captains and owners are gonna sell out cause they can’t pay for their expenses this year, this is probably the worst time to try to find a fishing job, give it a couple years and you might find one some wheres, but be ready to move to find it.
South Western Nova Scotia`s 6 month long lobster fishery comes to and end for the year.
