What are some good lures for trout fishing on rivers and/or lakes?

Posted by : admin

Doing some lake and river fishing here in Colorado…..all suggestions are much appreciated. Also, what rod length should I be using?

well spinners always work amazing at 6am and 6pm no matter what the situation is really…you could also (as mentioned above) try small rapalas since I have tried them and have had luck with them. there are Berkley Trout Worms that I have used and are quite effective since if you used worms in the river or lake you would probably catch sunnies instead of trout which is not what you want. you can also try miniking spinnerbaits 1/8 oz for larger trout and I find these lures the best. go with around a 6ft pole that should work well. hope that answered your ? and have an amazing time catching some trout.

first off, wish i was there. now to the question. the smallest floating rappalas, in minnow, or fire tiger colors, or even use a small hook, with power bait brand trout bites, they stay on the hook well, and they come in different colors…..a medium action bait caster should work…..Good Luck and Great Fishing

panther martins work well in CO. my favorite was always the gold bladed, black body one. for rivers in CO flys will out fish the lures, but you’d have to learn a bunch before this would be true as some of the fly fishin there in CO is pretty tough…….
