That’s on the Russian River you will find trout, salmon maybe a shad. Fish it like you would for trout anywhere else use floating baits and drift them with the currents. Fly fishing is very popular along the stretch. So is float tubing. They have a pond there it used to be stocked with catfish.

The first thing you need is a fishing liscence. Get it at a bait shop. You will also need life jackets. When you buy your liscence, ask about any regulations for fishing and where. The bait shop will know all of the rules.

Hello, I’m wondering what’s todays fish size limits and the Redondo Beach pier fishing rules since I’m very new and going tonight. I already know that you don’t need a fishing license at the pier for crabbing and fishing, but are there any special rules or things I should watch out for besides where I fish, how I fish, and when I fish? Thanks

Honestly don’t think this link will give ya’ the answers your wantin’ but, be about all I could find ie., FAQ regardin’ the piers facilities, fishing areas, do’s and don’ts etc.. If ya’ haven’t headed out yet, might run through them ta’ see if any are relevant? Ha’, am quite sure the "Can I have a wedding on the pier", question won’t be one of your concerns <);-3

Lets say you have your license and your all legal to go etc.. But a friend wants to go fishing with you, however, he does not have a license. And lets say he wanted to borrow a pole from you etc.. Would he just get busted for it or the both of you (assuming the game warden came around)?

I like your question because it implies that you’re okay with your friend coming along and fishing with no license, provided he’s the only one who will get a ticket. Heh heh. Anyway, real simple answer — if a conservation officer showed up, the friend would get a ticket, maybe a warning. If you have a current license you are not responsible for people fishing with you who are not licensed. You can’t be ticketed or fined for someone who is using your equipment or trying to horn in on your license, if that’s what you’re asking. There’s no way you’d be busted for anything.

Only two ways to guarantee the friend doesn’t get a ticket — get him a license (maybe a temporary license? In some states they’re like $5 for a day), or keep him away from the gear. Even better, take just the one pole — I have heard of people being ticketed even though they were not fishing, just because they were in a group where there was spare gear on the scene.

Explain why they were adopted and what you accomplish by following these regulations.

The fishing regulation booklet is available at all outlets that sell fishing licenses. Country stores, sporting good stores, Walmart, And the local wild life and fisheries office. Most regulations were adapted because of political pressure from various interest groups such as bass clubs and commercial fishing interests. And this is what you will accomplish by following those regulations- you will save yourself a day in court and a $350 fine minimum. More serious breaches allow them to confiscate your boat, vehicle, fishing equipment and anything else used when the infractions were committed. The serious stuff is when you are charged with selling game fish.

That chart is confusing.

Thanks

"All other species" means fish that are not listed on the chart for fresh water fish. There’s no size limit or limit on the amount you can take. Hold up Cowboy, before you go out setting a Ripley’s Believe it or not stunt, here’s the deal. Those are state standards. Local standards per county may be different ( ie or ei .. whatever) local parks may not let you take sunfish ( example) unless it’s a certain size. This would be called " fish management." So you really have to do some home work for the area you plan to fish before you fish it and plan on taking some home for dinner. ~good luck catchin’

Is there any specific regulation for fishing in Germany in rivers and lakes? how can I find those regulations?

Specially for state of Bremen in North-West.

Bremen is a very interesting city and has the only medieval town hall in Europe that has never been burnt down or otherwise destroyed though it did get a new facade in medieval times and has had a number of restoration projects completed on various sections of it more recently.
Bremen is a free city of the Hanseatic League now incorporated into Federal Germany and has a huge shipping industry and port. It is an hour by train from both Hamburg and Hanover, both worth visiting.
It stands on the River Weser which has some very good fishing and the river has been the subject of many river crossings on military exercises for much of it’s length…..by night most often, without light and with trepidation at times as the first of the tanks made their way across a newly built temporary bridge again built by night without lights and mostly without sound.
Such happy days of memory now, silently bridging the dear and lovely Weser of northern Germany.
http://www.bremen-tourismus.de/english/k1-rubrik_unter.cfm?index=1369 . . . .
The best general info site for Gemany That I know is this, which has a lot of information on nearly all aspects of living in or visiting Germany.
http://www.entrip.com/simple/5983985963/6151889706/wikitravel . . . . . .

German nationals do a course on basic fish biology, river ecology and safety and pass an exam at the end of the course before they can get a fishing license. The course costs a lot of money.
Once passed, the result is for life as a qualification but the license itself lasts for only one year and the next year another has to be bought. It’s quite pricey.
When they have a license they can apply for a fishing permit for any paricular water.
Visitors to Germany must also complete an exam course in order to get a tourist fishing license valid for a maximum of one month and you need to give notice of your arrival date so an arrangement can be made for you to do the short version of the course and take the exam.
That is the standard basic way of things throughout Germany and is covered by Federal Law.
As an aside, here is the Basic Federal Law of Germany which may make useful reading either for general interest or specific areas you may want to get some info about.
http://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/englisch_gg/englisch_gg.html . . . . . .

However there are a lot of places now which waiver that requirement for a fishing license for visitors although you will still need to get a tourist fishing permit which again is valid for one month maximum.
http://berlin.angloinfo.com/information/32/fishing.asp . . . . . .
http://www.insidevandy.com/drupal/node/4290 . . . . .
In the Bremen visitor websites there is only a mention of no license being necessary if fishing in private ponds and the site below is unclear about the position of reagarding licenses in Bremen for lakes and rivers.
Here is a brief overview of the position in each of the states of Germany, in sometimes poor translation.
http://www.fisch-hitparade.de/en/fischereischein.php . . . . . .
Not much, but a word with local fishing shop staff or a call into the Rathaus or Stadtampt in Bremen or Bremerhaven or any police station might produce a better result.
Enjoy some good fishing anyway if you manage to get some done

hey guys what kind of bait can be used in this lake? can i use power bait, night crawlers? is there any fees to pay to fish? Thank you!

No fees to fish except parking fees on weekends.

All baits you mentioned will work. There are bluegills, bass, carp, catfish and trout (when they stock them) in the lakes.

Poachers hit that place pretty hard so it will not be the easiest place to fish. Trout wouldn’t last too long there; most of them will be gone in 3 days. Catfish will last a little longer and I am pretty sure you could still find some "left overs" in the lakes. Bass population there isn’t too healthy but there are some huge bass in there; bass lucky enough to grow big in those lakes have seen A LOT of fishing pressure and they are not that easy to catch.

PS: You do need a fishing license to fish there.
