What are the best inshore fishing spots at North Carolina?

Posted by : admin, Read full article | 1 Comment

I have been fishing at Delaware for many years now, and I feel like going more down south to try and catch different species of fish such as red drum and whatnot. Anyone know of any good spots I could try from inshore?

wikipedia article on red drum states: "Red drum are often found over sand and sandy mud bottoms in coastal waters and estuaries. They feed mainly on crustaceans, mollusks and fishes.[10] Since they are bottom feeders, they are commonly caught with bait either on the bottom or suspended within a couple feet of the bottom. Shrimp is a typical bait that works well; squid can also be used and is less subject to bait stealing by hardhead catfish and Atlantic croakers which often frequent the same waters. There are times when the older, larger fish are more readily caught on a half or a quarter of a blue crab with the top shell removed and cut or broken to fit on a 4/0 to 9/0 hook. Baitfish such as pinfish can also be effective, along with a variety of other techniques." HOPE THIS HELPS!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

What are some good summer freshwater fishing spots about an hour from Seattle or Bellevue, WA?

Fish that we would like to catch:
Salmon
Trout
Catfish
Crappie
Bass

All answers are greatly appreciated.

Freshwater waters that I’ve fished (years ago for Salmon) be the Skokomish and Dungeness but, if you should ever have the oppurtunity ta’ vessel/boat yourself out to the high seas and want Chinook (King Salmon) ~ Straits of Jaun De Fuca be the place<);-3

Link may help ya’ out ie., has both rivers "Best months to fish by area" (top portion of page) and the Straits in it:

Where are the best fishing spots in Texas around the DFW area?

Read full article | 3 Comments

Just like the question says, I want to know where are the best fishing spots in around the DFW area because this summer I’m going to try fishing a lot more. I’m willing to drive for 2 hours to get to the spot and I live in Fort Worth, hopefully that will help you guys. I would also like to what types of fish you can catch at that spot and what type of bait would be good to catch them. Thank you for all your help.

Both Lake Lewisville and Ray Roberts have excellent fishing from both boat and shore. Lake Grapevine is just ok in my experience.

Live or cut shad will do well in both Lewisville and Ray Roberts. There is some very good catfish and striper action below the lewisville damn and I have even caught some black bass there as well. Both lakes have large populations of sand bass with lots of ways to catch them.

Does anyone know any good fishing spots in Naperville Illinois?

Does anyone know any good fishing spots in Naperville Illinois, and also where they are (preferably bass)? thanks

To be honest, not really.

Lake Osborne behind the Naperville PD/FD complex (Raymond & Aurora) really sucks. I saw a guy catch a Walleye out of there once so 4 nights a week I’l jog the 1 mile track and sit back with two beers, a cup of leaches, and a fishing pole. I never even caught a bluegill. I did get two bites over two summers though.

There is a trio of ponds in the Big Woods forect preserve just west of Eola road on Bilter (over by the outlet malls off I-88). If you are driving down Bilter from Eola Road toward the outlet malls, they will be on the right just before Dupage Parkway (I believe they are right across from the Eola on-ramp..they built that after I moved to the SW burbs). Of the three, I liked the one right behind Devonshire Ct. Go to google maps and enter Devonshire Ct, Aurora, IL and that will put you right there. You can park on the street and walk in between the town houses. I hadn’t caught bass there, but there are some very nice Crappies in there (beaver as well).

Across from Devonshire Ct, there is a pond along I-88 out on the Prarie Path. I hadn’t fished there personally, but it doesn’t get much pressure and the people I know that did fish there did pretty well. I’ve heard of a bass or two getting pulled out of there. It could be fisherman’s BS for all I know, but that is what I heard.

I’ve fished a time or to on Herrick Lake (off Butterfield and Herrick Rd). I have seen some small bass pulled out of there, but nothing spectacular.

Sorry I can’t help you more. I never really found a good spot in the Naperville area (haven’t found one in the Plainfield/Joliet area either)

this will be my first time kayak fishing around new york city, is there any permits or regulations i should/need to followed? and is there any typical equipment i should/needed to bring? thanks for helping.

The first thing you need is a fishing liscence. Get it at a bait shop. You will also need life jackets. When you buy your liscence, ask about any regulations for fishing and where. The bait shop will know all of the rules.

Regulations at Redondo Beach Pier Fishing?

Read full article | 2 Comments

Hello, I’m wondering what’s todays fish size limits and the Redondo Beach pier fishing rules since I’m very new and going tonight. I already know that you don’t need a fishing license at the pier for crabbing and fishing, but are there any special rules or things I should watch out for besides where I fish, how I fish, and when I fish? Thanks

Honestly don’t think this link will give ya’ the answers your wantin’ but, be about all I could find ie., FAQ regardin’ the piers facilities, fishing areas, do’s and don’ts etc.. If ya’ haven’t headed out yet, might run through them ta’ see if any are relevant? Ha’, am quite sure the "Can I have a wedding on the pier", question won’t be one of your concerns <);-3

Yes, I always use Capt. Kent Klewein. He is great, really patient and definitely knows what he is doing. He will take you to all the great stops and he knows those rivers inside and out. Have fun!

A question about fishing regulations?

Read full article | 4 Comments

Lets say you have your license and your all legal to go etc.. But a friend wants to go fishing with you, however, he does not have a license. And lets say he wanted to borrow a pole from you etc.. Would he just get busted for it or the both of you (assuming the game warden came around)?

I like your question because it implies that you’re okay with your friend coming along and fishing with no license, provided he’s the only one who will get a ticket. Heh heh. Anyway, real simple answer — if a conservation officer showed up, the friend would get a ticket, maybe a warning. If you have a current license you are not responsible for people fishing with you who are not licensed. You can’t be ticketed or fined for someone who is using your equipment or trying to horn in on your license, if that’s what you’re asking. There’s no way you’d be busted for anything.

Only two ways to guarantee the friend doesn’t get a ticket — get him a license (maybe a temporary license? In some states they’re like $5 for a day), or keep him away from the gear. Even better, take just the one pole — I have heard of people being ticketed even though they were not fishing, just because they were in a group where there was spare gear on the scene.
